Bellevue Club Foundation

Established to Preserve a Historic National Treasure

The Bellevue Club Foundation is an IRS Code 501(c)(3) non-profit organization charged with insuring the architectural integrity and safety of a unique Historic Place.

The Director of the National Park Service has announced placement of The Bellevue Club (Women’s Athletic Club of Alameda County since 1929) on the National Register of Historic Places. Shortly after incorporation of the Club, March 19, 1926, the architectural firm of Roeth and Bangs was employed to design this stunning Beaux Arts building. The Bellevue Club is the anchor of the Bellevue Staten Historic Preservation District, and has also been listed in the California Register of Historical Resources.

The Bellevue Club is well known as a private social and fitness club. The variety of well-appointed rooms and range of service have made The Bellevue Club a sought after venue and community resource for businesses, visitors, and celebrants. Many a marriage has been performed in its splendid Mural Lounge and its vast Ballroom illuminated with crystal chandeliers. Generations of Oakland and Piedmont citizens have celebrated family events and holiday parties at The Bellevue Club.

The Club’s delightful overnight guest rooms overlooking scenic Lake Merritt provide bed and breakfast comfort. On-site parking is guaranteed for guests. Members have reciprocal club privileges at hundreds of private clubs worldwide. Likewise, Reciprocal Club members from many Countries and States visit The
Bellevue Club, adding to the diversity of social conversations and learning activities.

For business people, The Bellevue Club offers a variety of rooms for meetings, workshops, and seminars. A virtual tour may be seen at www.bellevueclub.org, as well as photos of local points of interest.

Members and their guests unwind in the club’s fitness center and enjoy a swim in its large, heated indoor pool.

Above all, The Bellevue Club offers an old-world charm and atmosphere that modern facilities simply cannot match.
