Upcoming EventsFriday, July 11th6 p.m. - Art Opening Reception Sharon von Ibsch creates vibrant acrylic paintings of flowers and landscapes that speak of her love of nature. Her paintings will hang in the Crystal Lounge and some will be available to purchase. Drop by for the reception and enjoy appetizers and a glass of wine. Make sure to book dinner reservations for after the exhibit. The show will run until Sunday, August 3rd. You can meet Sharon and have brunch, too; a perfect way to spend Sunday. Friday, July 18th6:30 p.m. - Live Jazz Performance Terrence Brewer, jazz guitarist, composer, arranger, and musical director, possesses the rich experience of performing with legendary artists such as Mary Wilson (formerly of the Supremes), Pete Escovedo, Tuck and Patti, Khalil Shaheed, and many others. In addition to performing with great artists, Brewer's fate led him to study with musical greats such as Charlie Hunter, Duck Baker, and Mark Levine. Over the past decade, Brewer has established himself as an accomplished improviser with an exquisite tone. His sound is marked by a balance and maturity more often found in much older players. Friday, July 25th5:30 p.m. - Wine Tasting & BBQ On the Roof Varietal wines and boutique non-alcoholic beverages will be offered for tastings. Great deals will be offered for purchasing wines. Our Roof Garden will be set up for Chef James' grilling a delicious al fresco meal. Live music, good wine, delicious food; a perfect summer evening. 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. $45 per person inclusive. Wednesday, July 30th11:30 a.m. - De Young Museum Day Trip Start the day with an early, delicious lunch at the Club before boarding the chartered bus that will take us to view the Chihuly Art Glass exhibit. The chartered bus will leave promptly at 1:00p.m. Over the past forty years, Chihuly's sculptures in glass have explored color, line, and assemblage. Although his work ranges from the single vessel to indoor/outdoor site-specific installations, he is best known for his multipart blown compositions. No-host lunch is $33, and includes transportation and admission to the museum. We'll be returning to the Bellevue Club by 4:30 p.m. Reservations 510.451.1000 Thursday, August 7th6:00 p.m. - Evening Book Club Join us on the first Thursday of each month for a lively discussion of your favorite books for socializing followed by dinner and discussion of the book chosen for that month. The August selection is My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Be sure to make your reservation with the front desk. Sunday, August 10th6 p.m. - Blues on the Roof Music provided by The Howlers. Members of The Howlers have played and recorded with some of the biggest names in the blues including John Lee Hooker. Musician Nancy Wright will be their special guest for the evening. Ms. Wright, who has played with Elvin Bishop and many others, is one of the best tenor sax players in the country. Our own Emmett Eiland is the bass player. This Renaissance man has been in the Oriental rug business since 1969. He and his wife Natasha have been generous and active members of The Bellevue Club for many years. The Howlers play loud enough to get you on your feet, but not so loud that you can't talk. Bring your dancing shoes and summer casual attire and head for the roof.
